On 06 March 2024, the presentation conference of the Build4People Ecocity Transition Lab (ECTL) took place at Phnom Penh City Hall, in the presence of H.E. Vice-Governor Nuon Pharat who provided a greeting word.
After an intensive week of collaborative work in between the Build4People team members and leading representatives of Phnom Penh City and of OCIC Group, supported by more than 80 students from five local universities valid ideas got presented of a more sustainable future of Norea City, a prime waterfront development along Mekong River at Phnom Penh’s Chbar Ampov District.
In this way the Build4People project promoted a process of more integrated urban development and an alternative vision of urban sustainability by bringing together an innovative alliance of multiple stakeholders from the local and national state, the corporate sector, academia and from civil society.
At the same time, the whole ECTL process was an invaluable learning platform for all participants, particularly the local students.
The dimension of sustainable mobility was thankfully infused to the ECTL by the German government funded SMMR-project (Sustainable Mobility in Metropolitan Regions in ASEAN) which was supported a team of students of Techo Sen Institute of Public Works and Transport belonging to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT) of Cambodia.
The Build4People team would like to kindly express its deep gratitude to all engaged participants of the whole ECTL process.
