Publication of the 7th video clip in the context of the Build4People Online Exhibition “Cambodia’s Green Pioneers”

Build4People is thrilled to announce the 7th video clip of its online exhibition “Cambodia’s Green Pioneers”, introducing Monorom Tchaw, Founder and Co-Director of Leng Dei (formerly known as “Compost City”).

The rationale behind Leng Dei are the huge amounts of organic waste generated in Phnom Penh, everyday, which are overwhelmingly dumped into landfills, up to now. This inspired Monorom Tchaw to found Leng Dei as a social enterprise.

Leng Dei’s key mission is to use experiential learning to connect people with soil, biodiversity, and environmental care, by means of three approaches:

1) Providing practical tools for environmental care: A home compost kit for families to turn their kitchen scraps into compost at home, a home garden kit, and teaching support materials.

2) Organising private workshops: Team-building activities for NGOs or companies, training for waste management, composting, and gardening, as well as school trips, youth environmental leadership programs, sustainability tours, and summer camps.

3) Establishment of an educational food garden: Leng Dei is also the name of a physical garden, where they host community events by inviting people to relax under the trees, listen to birds singing, touch the soil, plant seeds, garden, make and taste food from the garden, and learn about ecology through sensory experiences.
