Build4People facilitates exchange about smart and green city strategies between leading representatives of Phnom Penh City Hall, Cambodia, and of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, Vietnam

On 30 May 2025, the Build4People project facilitated a technical meeting and exchange about smart and green city strategies between leading representatives of Phnom Penh Capital Hall, including H.E. Vannak Seng, Vice-Governor of Phnom Penh Capital City, and of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction, including its Deputy Chief, Mr. Phan Ngọc Phúc.

After the provision of greeting words, the members of the Build4People team introduced about their Build4People project related activities and the competence portfolio of their institutions. This was followed by a presentation of current smart and green urban development strategies of Ho Chi Minh City by Mr. Huỳnh Xuân Thụ, Vice-Head of the Division of General Affairs and Digital Technology at the HCMC Department of Construction.

The subsequent open discussion substantially cheered up the atmosphere during which H.E. Vannak Seng invited a delegation from Ho Chi Minh City Department of Construction to join the inauguration of Phnom Penh Smart City Hub scheduled for end of July 2025.

This exchange was part of the Build4People delegation trip from Cambodia to Vietnam, with altogether 23 delegation members from various institutions and companies, among them Phnom Penh Capital Hall (PPCH), the Paññāsāstra University of Cambodia (PUC), the Cambodian Institute for Urban Studies (CIUS), the Royal University of Phnom Penh (RUPP), the Cambodian non-governmental organisation WAE (women in architecture and engineering), the DGNB German Sustainable Building Council, the Laboratory of Knowledge Architecture at TU Dresden, the CityLAB Berlin, the University of Hamburg (UHH), the University of Magdeburg (OVGU), the Architecture and Urban Design Practice Eble Messerschmidt Partner, and INKEK GmbH.

To allow for a smooth dialogue, all speeches got translated by Ms. Lê Vân Anh, Director of the Institute for Regional and Urban Studies (IRUS).
