Cambodia’s highspeed urbanization process is predominantly led by the private sector and causes a variety of problems such as lacking connectivity between the spatially isolated neighbourhoods and related urban-spatial fragmentation, lacking understanding of sustainability focusing only on visible features, over-burdening of public infrastructures, traffic jams, environmental pollution, etc. That is why Build4People is developing locally adapted minimum criteria of sustainable neighbourhoods to make the sustainability performance of development projects more transparent and thus to reduce environmental impacts from a very early stage on.
