Publication of fifth B4P Snapshot Interview covering the topic of sustainable urban mobility

Build4People happily announces the publication of the fifth B4P Snapshot Interview. This time, we welcome Conrad Richardson, a renowned expert in the field of smart and sustainable urban mobility. As consultant within the SMMR project “Sustainable Design of Urban mobility in Medium-Sized Metropolitan Regions”, he was one of the contributors of the Sustainable Urban Mobility guideline as part the B4P Transformation Toolbox.

The SMMR project was an ASEAN-German cooperation with the objective to implement concepts and strategies for Integrated and Sustainable Mobility across 10 selected countries in Southeast Asia.

Our interview offers general insights into the topic of sustainable urban mobility in regard to the urban transformation of Phnom Penh based on Conrad’s expertise. It is visualized by various scenes of the city’s traffic structures. Conrad further explains, how a city can reduce the impact of engine-caused emmissions by including public and alternative transport options to motorbycicles and cars, e.g. public buses or bicycles.

In addition, he describes, how such alternatives can be implemented successfully into urban space for transforming its landscape into an sustainable environment. Adapting those processes to the local governance framework resonates with Build4People’s people-centered approach, where transformation is thought as a holistic integrated urban design process.

We would like to kindly thank Conrad Richardson as well as the whole SMMR project team for their valuable contribution to the B4P Transformation Toolbox and look very much forward to fostering sustain urban mobility in the urban landscape of Phnom Penh.
