On the third day of the Build4People delegation trip, on 04 June 2024, there was the most important activity of the whole trip, the Build4People Proposal Writing Workshop “Build4People’s transformative journey from 2025-2027” which took place at the Museum of Hamburg University.
The workshop served to discuss and exchange ideas how to design the concluding implementation phase from 2025-2027 in-between the German and the Cambodian partners.
After the lunch break at the vegetarian Mensa of Hamburg University, Blattwerk, we did a site visit to Hamburg’s district Wilhelmsburg. There we firstly had a look at various 3D models of Hamburg at the building of the Hamburg municipal Authority for Urban Development and Housing (BSW), designed by the architecture practice Sauerbruch Hutton.
This was followed by a guided tour to the prototype area of the International Building Exhibition (IBA) and the entrance area for International Garden show (IGS).
Finally we paid a visit to the so-called World Quarter and the Energy Bunker. From 2010 to 2013, the bunker was converted into an “energy bunker” on the occasion of the International Building Exhibition. It is now an energy center with a biomass cogeneration plant, a thermal water storage tank, a solar thermal system and a photovoltaic system.
At the end of the day we took the harbour ferry ship to enjoy food at Strandperle along Elbe River.
