Science-Society Transfer to enhance knowledge and understanding about urban sustainability at a secondary grammar school

It is always inspiring to leave the scientific bubble and to reach out to a wider public: That is why the Build4People consortium leader Dr. Michael Waibel gave a presentation at the secondary grammar school Emil-von-Behring-Gymnasium in Großhansdorf in the surroundings of Hamburg City on 31 May 2023.

In front of a crowd of about 100 young people, aged between 16 and 18 years old, he introduced about challenges and opportunities for sustainable building and urban development – by referring to the case study of the Build4People project. His presentation was followed by a vivid discussion.

This kind of science-society transfer is beneficial for both sides: In one way we contribute to empower the young generation to reflect on their own living environment and to develop own ideas to promote urban sustainability, in the other way the Build4People team is able to learn from other fresh perspectives.
