Inception Meeting of UNEP-UNDP joint support for Cambodia in developing “NDC Roadmap for Buildings and Construction 2020-2050”

On 28 October 2020, an inception meeting organized by UNDP jointly with UNEP took place, which is the first of a series of activities to support Cambodia’s Ministry of Land Management, Urban Planning and Construction (MLMUPC) in developing a national roadmap to achieve zero-emissions and resilient buildings and construction in Cambodia.

The overall objective of this initiative is to support the Royal Government of Cambodia (RGC) in outlining short term, medium term and long term actions and meaningful targets; and timelines to achieve low-carbon and resilient buildings and construction. This will feed into national or subnational strategies and policies to facilitate the implementation of concrete measures for the buildings and construction sector to achieve the targets set in the Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) of Cambodia.

Dr. Susanne Bodach, in her role as UNDP Consultant, prepared and participated in this meeting. Dr. Susanne Bodach is also acting as local project management support of the Build4People project.

In preparation of the research proposal of the upcoming Build4People RD-phase (envisaged from April 2021 till March 2025) UNEP has issued a Letter of Support to express its wish to cooperate with the Build4People project in terms of Cambodia’s national roadmap development and other related activities.
